Clipping My Way to Financial Security

Leah and I have two different grocery shopping styles. I grab what I want and put it in the cart, most of the time without even checking the price. But Leah? She knows it all. She knows what store carries what product at the best price, which means with her shopping can often take more than one stop.

It would be nearly impossible for me to try to emulate her in DC, since I really only have one store within walking distance. Still in these dire economic times when the daily headlines warn of impending financial doom, I have started feeling guilty about my grab-n-go ways. I’ve resorted to a rather drastic and shall I say old-school act.

I’ve started clipping coupons. I have nice little envelopes loaded with a few weeks worth of clippings. I’m still getting the hang of it. I have a bunch of coupons for sugary cereals and almost every other one is for frozen pizzas. But hey, it's a start. $1 off three boxes of Frosted Flakes here and 50 cents off a French bread pizza there and soon, I'm pretty sure I can shield myself from the economic crisis.

Once, I bought a coupon organizer. I found it recently and it still has two-year-old coupons.
